The Accord has been neglected, used, and abused over the last couple of months. I usually keep my cars clean, but I’ve gotten out of the habit of detailing the Honda. I guess it’s because I’m going to sell it soon and my heart just hasn’t been in the “keeping-it-clean” mode.

I started with cleaning out the trunk and the glove box, and my God I’ve collected a lot of crap. I have a trunk organizer that I discovered all the missing umbrellas in. I also seem to have been stashing pens and pencils in my glove box in case of war with Russia and someone needed to write down exactly when the bombs dropped.

Anyway, wheels were washed, carpets vacuumed, wheel wells dressed, paint washed, and finished up with a layer of Klasse AIO. It really needs me to break out the dual action polisher and remove some of the swirls. But after 4 hours of decluttering, washing, vacuuming, and cleaning the only dual-anything on my mind is two beers.

I am drinking Boddingtons tonight. What do you drink after a good day of detailing your ride?

I will go outside and wash my car now. But after... That Boddingtons look’s delicious, I’ll have to take my shiny car to the store and get me some of those.

I’ve not had a Boddys for years.

It’s a nice pint with a creamy head rather than foamy.

I like a Guinness (or few) myself.

Guinness is also quite tasty. I was in Dublin about 10 years ago and it’s true; they taste better in Ireland. My grocery store stocks Boddingtons and Guinness next to each other. It’s tough having to make such first world choices.

In the last couple of days

It’s got maybe 240 types of beer, ale, stout and lager.

In the last couple of days I’ve been drinking Marstons Pedigree, Spitfire, Spitfire Gold, Newcastle Brown Ale, Trooper, Old Speckled Hen, Old Peculiar, Bombadier, John Smiths Golden Ale, Guinness Original XX, Guinness Dublin Porter, Guinness Foreign Export, and Guinness Golden Ale.

Funny, my wife and I just detailed my Accord and her Forester. I’m now enjoying a Ambear Red Ale from Cameron’s brewery in Oakville (Ont.). Very good way to chillax after a some detailing.

Excellent! It’s that time of year to get in a detail before the weather goes to snowmen in a hand basket. The ambear looks good.

Ya, exactly, need that coat of wax before the deep freeze. Everything I’ve had from Cameron’s has been awesome (it’s rare that I like all of a brewery’s beers).

Just out of curiosity, what are you replacing the Accord with once you sell it? Is that a Sport or a Touring model I spy?

Good eye. It’s a sport. Six speed manual.

Ive tried to like this car, I really have. But I just can’t. The ride is bouncy on the highway, the stock stereo is terrible, and I’ve just never “connected” with it. I admit it’s also a basic car and I miss my creature comforts; sat radio, sunroof, heated seats. And it’s slow. Well, maybe not slow per se, but it never feels fast (if that makes sense?)

I’m looking at a Passat. It fits the bill as far as creature comforts and rides very nicely. It’s quick and with an APR tune would be even quickerer (to use a made up word). And the Fender stereo is glorious!

Tequila, Vodka, or Scotch. Trying to cut back on the beer. Boddingtons is great though. There’s a pasty restaurant near me that has it on tap.

Ahh gotcha, mines a EX Coupe and has those creature comforts including the upgraded stereo. To me, the speed is adequate (I guess a bit more might be nice, but I never really needed more). I prefer the sound of naturally aspirated engines and have an aftermarket air intake on mine, I find it more entertaining.

The Passat 1.8T with a tune is a pretty solid choice; if I wasn’t so picky with how my car sounds, I might have ended up in a Golf 1.8T.

My rule is usually that I won’t drink anything I can see through unless it is given to me for free or is +7%.
